Cora Hits Number 1

After one and a half years of indie publishing, I have finally hit number 1 in a subgenre bestseller list, for The Hidden Castle is a number 1 bestseller at Amazon France.

Alas, the sales numbers required to get there weren’t all that impressive. A single sale is all it took. Though I’m just above Jeff Vandermeer’s City of Saints and Madmen. What is more, I have finally cracked the French market. Now I only need to crack Japan, Brazil and Canada (on Amazon. I have had Canadian sales on Kobo) as well.

  1. Congratulations nevertheless, Cora. 🙂

  2. One sale? That’s all it took?

Regardless, that’s one more sale than you had before, and it garnered you some great bragging rights. Bask in the moment.

It’s a small category in a small market. One English language sale in the smaller markets often catapults you into the category top 100 (unless it’s a very big category), though I’ve never been number 1 before. The highest I ever got before was number 3 in the English language western category (not very busy for obvious reasons) on Amazon DE.

Savor even the small victories! That one sale may be the first domino (le premier domino).
